I have used the Himal a few times. What the market images do not show you is how awesomely this bag fits into a simple hand held article. The material is top notch, water proof, light weight but durable. This is a much lighter bag then the others I have experience with and because of this it is perfect to hike with. I fit all my essentials in the bag cavity easily. The wide opening will accommodate even large items. The Himal is equipped with comfortable straps and two sets of support straps both on the chest and waist. The front pocket is also a great feature with a decent amount of storage space. I plan to use this during hunting season this year( I got the camo) because this bag is so versatile and light weight. Aqua Quest never ceases to amaze me. I highly recommend this brand.

Loved this backpack for my trip to Niagara Falls.

Loved this backpack for my trip to Niagara Falls. I bought it to keep my possessions dry while on the tourist boat rides and walking under the falls. With the extra layer of ponchos provided for the different tourist attractions, not one item got wet. On one of my hiking trips I was caught in a nonstop torrential downpour. The main backpack compartments stayed completely dry. The small zippered pocket on the outside did get a bit wet inside. I highly recommend this truly waterproof backpack.

I should also mention the extreme comfort of this backpack. Great shoulder straps, waist and chest straps. I would say this is best suited as a day pack. It's not structured, more of a loose deep interior.

Good buy

This worked really well when I went to Costa Rica in the rainy season. My only complaint (and it's been mentioned in other posts) is there are no dividers/pockets/separators in the main compartment. It's just a big, open bag. That's good for putting lots of things in, but can make it hard to find things, especially if you get the black bag and it's dark. That said, it worked perfect at keeping my things dry and that was the most important thing.

Great! The zipper is already a little messed up though...

I like this bag, though I can't say I've really put its impermeability to the test yet.The reason for 4 and not 5 stars is that the zipper on the front pouch will often snag the overahanging 'flap' or whatever it is. After I'd had the bag for maybe 3-4 weeks, I snagged it badly and once I had unsnagged it, the zipper wouldn't zip smoothly past that spot any more. So...the zipper is the first thing I'm expecting to fail.I only bought this bag because the equivalent 'front pouch zipper' had gone out on my other backpack, so I am sad that this has begun to happen already with this bag.
